My idea

My idea is to compare pulp fiction (movie) and Fight Club (book) and see how violence is used to redeem people OR how violence allows people to hide from what they truly are.

feel free to comment with some feedback guys!

  1. Since I have not seen Pulp Fiction, nor have read the book Fight Club, it is hard for me to see how violence can be used to redeem someone. Are they trying to run away from their violent past? I like the second focus—people using violence as a vehicle to hide from who they really are. Do the character's ever change for the better? Do they realize something out of this violence that makes them grow? Is violence part of their culture and inevitable that they would participate in? If so, what does this violence say about the culture? If this is the case, you may want to also incorporate the book, The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton.
Overall, I really like this topic. I think that it is really interesting to compare a (modern?) book and movie. It would also be interesting to discuss the pros and cons of portraying violence in a book vs. movie. Is one more effective than the other?
